For anyone interested in recess as critical in the education of young children, I highly recommend the Center for Public Education's report: http://tinyurl.com/3t2ntr I'm not sure their stance--not to worry, we still have recess--is correct. Most schools who cut back on recess went from 180 minutes/week to about 140 minutes a week--a "mere" 8 minutes a day. Anyone who has ever taught kindergarten knows that 8 minutes of physical activity can make an enormous difference in a small child's ability to focus. Thanks again. Nice blog!
